Strive Masiyiwa at the 2018 Global Leadership Summit

Dan Sullivan · August 3, 2019 ·

Here are my notes from his talk at the 2018 global leadership Summit. There is so much going on in Africa that the rest of the world needs to pay attention to and learn from.

I love his philosophy that if your business solves the problem people will seek you out. He wasn’t passionate about cell phones or education, he just wanted to solve problems.

How about that last line for employee appreciation?

Respect, with reverence, the people that work for us – especially volunteers. They could all go elsewhere to work toward someone else’s vision.

John 19 – Jesus Died on the Cross on Purpose

Dan Sullivan · February 25, 2019 ·

Here is my sermon on John 19. What is unusual about this is that usually I would preach on the passion and crucifixion on Easter, but since I’m doing expository preaching chapter by chapter through John, we have Easter in February!

Pilate, Jesus, the Jewish leaders of the day, I talk about a lot of things in here.

Enjoy, and share any feedback or comments on your own blog or Facebook.

Manna and the Proof of the Presence of God

Dan Sullivan · April 14, 2018 ·

I got to speak to the graduating seniors (and their families) at Praise Ensembles final recital of the year.

I talked about Moses not going forward unless God’s presence was with him. God sent Manna as one sign that He would take care of all of their needs.

After a Passover meal (made with manna, nonetheless) Joshua woke up one morning with no sign of God’s presence. The Manna had stopped and it was time to fight. The time to take the promised land had come. God’s presence would still be there with them, but in a whole new way.

Every one of those kids is going to wake up someday and not have a visual, tangible object to prove God’s love to them. That’s when the fight begins. Jesus has sent His Spirit into our hearts to help, but the Promised Land must be fought for. Only then do we see that it is ours for the taking.

Christmas in the Gospels Part 3: Luke

Dan Sullivan · March 8, 2018 ·

I taught from one of the Gospels for each Sunday of Advent. Luke is the most robust, of course, because his Christmas story was meant to fill in the details of what Matthew and Mark had already written.

Christmas in the Gospels Part 1: Matthew

Dan Sullivan · January 11, 2018 ·

I did the four weeks of Advent in 2017 as the four Gospels’ take on Christmas.

This is part one, Matthew. Matthew wrote about the life of Jesus from a very Jewish perspective. He starts by framing the coming of Christ in the context of Abraham and David, then goes on to tell of Christ’s birth as the coming of the Jewish Messiah.

Mark Chapter 2 – Jesus Heals a Paralyzed Man

In this sermon, I talk about Jesus healing a paralyzed man in Mark 2, and the fanatical dudes that brought him there.

Mark 2 – Jesus Working Miracles on the Sabbath

Dan Sullivan · November 9, 2017 ·

Here is my sermon on the last portion of Mark 2, where Jesus is doing a bunch of stuff on the Sabbath. The leaders of Jesus’ day had so many Sabbath regulations that it was hard to keep track. Jesus knew them all though and went through breaking the ones they made up in an almost systematic manner. He really wanted them to consider that He might really be from God.
