Manna and the Proof of the Presence of God

April 14, 2018 by Dan Sullivan

I got to speak to the graduating seniors (and their families) at Praise Ensembles final recital of the year.

I talked about Moses not going forward unless God’s presence was with him. God sent Manna as one sign that He would take care of all of their needs.

After a Passover meal (made with manna, nonetheless) Joshua woke up one morning with no sign of God’s presence. The Manna had stopped and it was time to fight. The time to take the promised land had come. God’s presence would still be there with them, but in a whole new way.

Every one of those kids is going to wake up someday and not have a visual, tangible object to prove God’s love to them. That’s when the fight begins. Jesus has sent His Spirit into our hearts to help, but the Promised Land must be fought for. Only then do we see that it is ours for the taking.
