I just came across these notes & realized that I forgot to post them. … I never thought about Lazarus and Jesus talking to each other in Heaven for a bit before Lazarus came back and talked to Jesus at his old house!
Tonight I got to speak at chapel at the Evansville Rescue Mission. Here is a short bit about what I talked about. Maybe I need to get a dashboard tripod?
I leaned over to my oldest son, who was already getting sleepy (it was about 8:45 at this point) and I said, “The first reading was Genesis, the second was Exodus…” and his eyes got as big as stained-glass windows. … They were able to keep up through each of the readings, which was great, but whenever something was chanted or sung, I could watch their fingers get lost in the script.

His talk was really good. 
After a day of some religious and worldly wisdom it was really good to focus on the fact that the most important things in this world can only be done by God. It’s worth it to read this passage from 2 Kings 3 
When you go among people that are so radically off from you culturally, it takes a lot of work to figure out what discipleship looks like in their culture. (personally I’m still trying to figure this out in American culture!)
