With vs. Like – The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit

As I read through the book of Acts and I’m working on my @iamstpaul project there is never any question that God is WITH Paul. (except for maybe when he’s getting stoned to death–but right after that there was no question!) I think that’s also how God knew that King David would “accomplish everything I want him to do” because He knew David wanted to be WITH God and in God’s presence more than he wanted to seek equality with God.

Drawing Closer to God

No The word phobos is used in a lot of places like “They were afraid of the Jews” but in a lot of other places it is used to describe the feeling people had after an amazing miracle had just happened. … And walking in reverence for it’s husband and by being drawn near and closer to God by the Holy Spirit, the church multiplied.

Global Leadership Summit 2011, Part 3: Brenda Salter McNeil

When you go among people that are so radically off from you culturally, it takes a lot of work to figure out what discipleship looks like in their culture. (personally I’m still trying to figure this out in American culture!)

…This was a great moment and I think I would have done well to just go and pray for a bit, or have all of us pray for a bit, but conferences are what they are, and when McNeil was done they launched some cheesy video advertising something.
