Even in the days of Isaiah, God was welcoming people regardless of their circumstances.
Isaiah 56:3
Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to the Lord say, “The Lord will surely separate me from his people”; and let not the eunuch say, “Behold, I am a dry tree.”
For thus says the Lord: “To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, who choose the things that please me and hold fast my covenant, I will give in my house and within my walls a monument and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off.
“And the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord, to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it, and holds fast my covenant— these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.”
Even back in Isaiah, it was never God’s intent that your birth or your circumstances would affect your salvation. It is all about how you respond to God. Respond to Him and He’ll deliver. Don’t let any restriction in your life hold you back.
What Randy Moore said about Evansville “We have an inheritance as part of this community” struck me. I’ve always considered myself a steward of my house, since it is a historic house, but not my city. Where we live was given to us in a certain condition, and we will pass it on to our…
Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning…
This is a quote from the Letter from Birmingham Jail, by MLK Jr, quoted in John Piper’s weekly email, Fresh Words. You can read it all at desiringgod.org. There was a time when the church was very powerful in the time when the early Christians rejoiced at being deemed worthy to suffer for what they…
Ancient Hebrew wisdom describes four levels of charity. The highest level is to provide a job for one in need without his knowledge that you provided it. The next, lower level is to provide work that the needy one knows you provided. The third level is to give an anonymous gift to meet an immediate…
John 13:9-10 “Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!” Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean,” For a long time in my Christian life, I’ve been…
